Looks like Orange have finally done it. After a lot of speculation they have finally added a 29er to their ever growing product line. This takes the guise of a 120mm full suspension bike called “Gyro”.

Orange have stuck with their traditional aluminium box section tubing and their single pivot which has always been a winner with most of their other full suspension bikes.
It’s good to see a Maxle swingarm and a Fox RP23 Kashima shock as standard. This Maxle swingarm is a £100 upgrade for the Five and really helps to stiffen up that Swingarm. Especially for a 29er.
It’s also good to see Orange using less of it’s own branded Products. The only Orange Branded component that I can see is the handlebars. Everything else that you see is from recognizable manufacturers; Race Face Stem and seatpost and Cane Creek headset are a welcome sight.
The rest of the bike is made up of Fox 32 Float 29er 120mm RLC Kashima suspension forks, Avid Elixir 5 disk brakes, Race Face Evolve XC 10sp crankset and a mixture of Deore SLX/XT for the Shifters and Mechs.
This looks like quite a good setup for this bike. However, this really does push the price of the bike high. At a price of £2,799.99 it’s certainly not cheap, but when you consider that the forks and shocks alone would cost you nearly £1000 and the frame would probably have cost at least £1400. It’s actually not bad value.

Well, I’ve had my Manitou Black super air’s on my Orange Five since the day I bought it in 2006. I knew that a suitable replacement had to have a few criteria; lightness, longer travel, an air fork and ideally, let me maintain my quick release instead of upgrading my hubs to through bolts. This kind of [...]
Well, we all went up to Carron Valley the other night there to try out my new LED bike lights. Unfortunately we discovered that the best percentage of the trail is out of action for a number of reasons. To start with there is quite a bit of tree felling taking place at the top [...]
