ShimanoXT M770 Hollowtec II Crankset... by Steven Upgraded from a Deore crankset after about 3 years of use. The M770 crankset looks the part and is definately stiffer, but still a lot of money. Not much more could get a lighter/stiffer carbon crankset. Like :Smooth, Stiff and light. Dislike :Bit expensive Price :£0.00 Rating : 4/5
HopePro II Hubs... by Steven I loved the pair of Hope XC Hubs that I had on my old ORange EVO2. So when it came to upgrade my wheels/hubs on my Orange 5, I was keen to try out the newer Pro II hubs from Hope. They are pretty solid and with both Quick Release and 20 mm options, they are ideal for anything from XC, Free ride, to downhill. The Hub body and Cassette body are both aluminium so the wait is low at 185g front and 285g back for the Quick Release configuration. As with most Hope products, you can get them in a variety of colours. The ratchet action is pretty loud; even more so than the older XC hubs. The pro II hubs also don't feel as fast as the older XC hubs. eg When Free riding down a hill. I've had my pro II hubs for 2 years now and they are still as smooth as the day I bought them and the catridge bearings make servicing pretty easy when they do wear out. Like :Look the part, Very smooth, light, strong and upgradable to 20mm. Dislike :More noisy than Hope XCs! or is that a good thing?! Price :£170.00 Rating : 5/5
ThomsonMasterpiece Inline Seatpost... by Steven My old seatpost that case with my Orange 5 was starting to look very tired so it was time to upgrade. The Thomson Masterpiece may not be for everybody, with an RRP of around £120 for an aluminium seatpost it had better be something special in order to justify the high price tag; you could easily get a carbon seatpost for that sort of price. The Masterpiece is however, beautifuly machined which, along with the classy logo, helps to create a sexy looking seatpost indead. Fitting was pretty straight forward and the infinite tilt adjustment is an excellent feature. To adjust the angle of the seat, you just loosen one side slightly and tighten the opposite end to tighten things up again. Also, if weight is a consideration for you then this seatpost comes in at 190g for the 330mm version that I have. The Seatpost isn't going to transform your cycling but it is very light, sexy and has a couple of realy nice features. Nice bit of Bling for your bike. Like :Very light, easily setup, looks the part. Dislike :Price!, not carbon for money. Price :£100.00 Rating : 4/5
